fire for admitting to a quid pro quo before walking those comments back. alice barr, nbc news, washington a blue wave washing over the 2019 elections with democrats pulling off major upsets in kentucky and virginia. nbc news has declared andy beshear the apparent winner in the kentucky governor's race narrowly defeating republican incumbent governor matt bevin. the candidates were separated by less than 10,000 votes bevin has declined to concede. candidates can request a recount but they're going to have to foot the bill themselves president trump had stumped for bevin the night before the election >> if you lose they're going to say trump suffered the greatest defeat in the history of the world. this was the greatest. you can't let that happen to me! >> president trump shrugging off the bevin loss on twitter saying the republicans won five other races in the state virginia democrats took control of the state legislature for the first time in more than two decades, continuing their winning streak under president

trump. once republican friendly suburbs turned out in big numbers for blue candidates. it wasn't all bad news for the gop last night the party won handily in the mississippi gubernatorial race republican today reeves, top democrat jim hood 53 to 46%. a school resource officer behind bars this morning after he was arrested on a child abuse charge 38-year-old deputy ward miller was taken into custody after he was caught on camera body slamming a teenage girl to the ground by her throat the incident happened in september at a school that specializes in children with special needs. miller had been assigned to the school for the last three years. the sheriff has called the incident embarrassing. >> the way the deputy responds for whatever occurred, whatever type of verbal dialogue was going on, it makes no sense and it wasn't necessary. >> miller has been suspended without pay. authorities in north carolina are searching for a 13-year-old who escaped from juvenile court authorities say jericho w. made

is by far the biggest step iran has take nen breach of the jcpoa. the centrifuges are not allowed to be used for enrichment, only civil uses by injecting gas into them they can start enriching uranium. that means the facility will become an active nuclear site rather than a research plant as permitted under the deal also under the terms of the deal iran agrees to install no more than 5,060 of the oldest and least efficient centrifuges at the natanz nuclear facility until 2026 and not to carry out any enrichment till 2031 but not only are they enriching but also running sixth generation as opposed to fourth generation centrifuges at natanz which gives them the ability to significantly speed up the process and breach the 20% enriched uranium threshold this is highly significant because the most laborious, the most difficult part of

in today's top stories a wild attempt to stop an attempted car theft was all caught on video. a boston man told police he had just gotten something out of his trunk when someone was able to get behind the wheel you can see him jump onto the hood before the car accelerates down the road. here he holds on as the driver speeds around the corner and crashes into three other cars. the suspect was able to flee the scene and the owner was taken to the hospital with minor injuries a tourist from new zealand survived on a rubber dinghy after being adrift for nearly two days in the aegean sea the 47-year-old woman boored the inflatable boat to get supplies and when she decided to take a break and sail to an island. one of her oars fell into the island and the dinghy floated off course
